A Cisco training course is designed for people who wish to work with network switches and routers. Routers connect networks of computers via the internet or dedicated lines. The chances are that initially you should go for the CCNA. Avoid jumping straight into your CCNP as it's a considerable step up - and you should gain some working knowledge before you take this on.

Successfully achieving this certification will most likely see you working for national or international companies that have several locations, but still need contact. On the other hand, you might end up joining internet service providers. Both types of jobs command good salaries.
